Time is Filled with Swift Transition

The coronavirus has changed my ministry permanently. I wasn’t comfortable with it at first, but here’s my story.

If you would have asked me this time last year, I would have NEVER thought that I would be on Facebook or be in front of God’s people online. This last month has pushed me out of my comfort zone to reach God’s people in new ways. I recognized quickly that God was stretching me to grow to another level.

People are afraid of failure and I’m a person before I am a pastor. I didn’t want to make a fool of myself in front of God’s people. I didn’t want to make him look bad by not looking or sounding professional enough. I knew that I had a lot to learn to get our online ministry to be presentable. I wondered if people would judge us if we did something wrong. There is so much to think about when you’re putting yourself in front of the internet and world.

Matthew 11:29 says, “take my yoke upon you and learn of me”. That’s exactly what I had to do. I had to learn how to reach God’s people while we aren’t able to see each other in person. We are still learning as a ministry and trying our best to present ourselves in the best light. If you see or hear something wrong, just pray for us as we perfect how we present ourselves to you online.

People usually use social media for fun and some for no good, but I saw it as a way to stay connected to God’s people. I didn’t come into it to boost myself up, but I want everybody that contacts me online to see the God in me. It’s not about me and it’s not about my comfort level. It’s about him and his people. I hope that I can and will say something to help somebody online.

Pray for me as I transition into being a pastor to my members in church as well as my new internet members. Thank you all for following me.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Vivian D. Norwood
